Reading The Pictures is a not-for-profit website established in 2003 by Michael Shaw. The site focuses on analyzing news and media photographs. The goal is to reveal underlying storylines and hidden agendas in contemporary news photographs through study of the "content and context of key images to reveal bias, narrative, stereotypes and personality".
The Salon section focuses on involving community members in analytical conversations with a two hour live stream discussion between "photojournalists, visual academics and other highly-informed observers".
what about "originals" section. how does it succeed or fail for you. Would you go here again? Is it sophisticated enough for a visual artist, or is it more valuable for writers or the general public?
