Thomas Struth
Haley Ishihara
Thomas Struth was born in Geldern, Germany in 1954, but currently resides and works in Berlin. Struth studied painting and photography under artists Gerhard Richter and Bernd Becher at the Dusseldorf School of Art. He is well known for his series entitled Museum, as well as his urban scenes and family photos. Struth is very interested in how people interact in the space around them, which led him to shoot his Museum series, as well as photos of the urban streets Berlin, Tokyo, Chicago and New York.

To me, each of Struth's photography is a tableaux, even though his artist statement and biography do not mention that idea. His prints are all roughly 6 feet by 8 feet which is large, however with all of the detail, I feel as though the prints should be even bigger.
