Helen Levitt Exhibit
Helen Levitt was a famous photographer in the 20th century leading on to the 21st. Her main focus was street photography, which this exhibit provided. For decades, Levitt would photograph the streets of New York and represent how chaotic of a city New York is, were interesting things are happening at every corner.
I greatly enjoyed this exhibit, mostly because I am a fan of film photography and that was Levitt's medium; starting with Black and White then leaning more towards color film when that was starting to become popular among mediums. Every photograph displayed in the exhibit represented life on the streets of New York, ranging from children playing in the streets, to homeless people, to crime, basically showing the liveliness of New York. The exhibit displayed the images like a time lapse, starting with Levitt's earliest work, then moving forward to the next decade and so-forth, continuously seeing the industrial growth of New York over the years.
